July 27 was his first death anniversary            


“When I’m dead, do not declare a holiday. Instead, work a day extra.”

July 27 is the first death anniversary of President Dr Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. The sudden death of Dr Kalam due to a cardiac attack last year, at IIM Shillong, left the country in shock. The nation is paying tribute to its very own missile man.

Kalam was a man who made science his religion. His ideas were not only about making satellites but also about transforming India. It was because of the simplicity he possessed that he won hearts across the world.

A bronze statue was unveiled by Venkaiah Naidu and Parrikar at an event in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu.
